We are proud of the work of UWNNS and our partnerships over the past two years. Throughout northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe basin, children and their parents are building those critical early literacy skills. Parents are making it a priority to read daily with their children. Kids are developing reading skills while learning about science. Children who have fallen behind in their reading are getting back on track.
Since adopting our early reading focus (mid-2015 through third quarter 2016-17), 11,479 parents and children have had access to resources to improve literacy and reading skills.
"I liked how the Family Reading Program combined science and literacy. My children loved building ramps and observing how their angle affected their car’s velocity." - Parent of a participant in Fallon.

Since UWNNS adopted its early reading focus, over 20,000 books have been distributed.
