Impactful Stories Highlighted at the Silver Soirée
Through its programs, UWNNS has created powerful ripples of change across Northern Nevada. The Silver Soirée will honor these achievements and spotlight the impact of community support:
-
United Readers served 643 students this past year, with 96% demonstrating improvement in literacy skills. Cait, a mentor, recalled working with a student, Parker, who mastered rhyming after weeks of practice. “When I told him his answers were correct, his face lit up with excitement knowing he learned how to rhyme words,” she said.
-
Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) provided over 43,000 meals, 1,200 nights of shelter, and 37 months of rent assistance. A mother staying in a shelter expressed gratitude, saying, “The stability provided here has allowed my kids and me to rebuild.”
-
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) delivered over 31,000 books to more than 6,000 children, fostering early literacy and a love of reading. Kendra, a mother of two, shared, “The books have sparked joy and curiosity for my kids, creating a foundation for lifelong learning.”
Support and Celebrate Northern Nevada
The Silver Soirée is more than an event—it’s a night to celebrate the power of community and generosity. Every ticket purchased and every donation made helps UWNNS continue its work to ensure every family has the opportunity to thrive.
“Community impact begins with all of us,” said Blake Pang, President & CEO of UWNNS. “The Silver Soirée is our opportunity to celebrate the stories of transformation and the people who make them possible.”
