Giving Tuesday is a global movement driven by generosity and fueled by communities coming together to make a difference. This year, it falls on November 29th and there are so many ways to give back!
Write Community Notes
Join UWNNS by writing encouraging notes and drawing cute pictures for our amazing community members to let them know they are cared for!
- Write a note thanking our United Readers Mentors! This program is designed to improve foundational literacy skills in kindergarten through third graders through one-on-one and small group mentoring with a trained AmeriCorps mentor.
- Write notes to individuals being served by Ride United: Last Mile Delivery. This program works with community partners and Door Dash drivers to serve those who are transportation limited by delivering food, pet supplies, and other essential items directly to their door at no cost to the client or nonprofit partner.
- Write notes to thank the teachers and staff at our Nevada Ready! State Pre-K partner early learning centers! This program provides children the opportunity to receive high-quality pre-k experiences with private early learning centers in northern Nevada at no cost to their families.
Create A Reading Video
Do you have a kid's book laying around? Record a video of yourself reading a children's book! Don't forget to share why reading is so important to you and how you use reading in your life. These videos may be posted on our social media channels to encourage kids to read and used as tools for virtual interactions across northern Nevada!
Storytime Tips:
- Please show us the pictures in the books!
- Please do your best to read from a well-lit area!
Be sure to fill out the Media Release Form and submit that along with your video to volunteers@uwnns.org.
